Karabakh war: Syrian mercenaries sentenced to life for terrorism

PanARMENIAN.Net – A court in the southern Armenian town of Kapan on Tuesday, May 4 handed life sentences to two Syrian terrorist mercenaries deployed by Turkey to Azerbaijan to fight in the 44-day war against Artsakh (Nagorno-) in fall 2020.

Head of the Public Relations Department of ’s Prosecutor’s Office Arevik Khachatryan said Muhrab Muhammad al-Shkheri and Youssef El Abed Al Haji were charged with terrorism offenses.

More than 30 mercenaries have been identified and put on wanted list, Khachatryan added.

In the war against Artsakh (Karabakh), Turkey supported Azerbaijan militarily, also by transferring terrorist mercenaries from the Middle East to fight against Karabakh. Armenia was the first to report on Turkey’s deployment of thousands of Syrian fighters to Azerbaijan. International media publications followed suit, as did reactions from France, Russia, Iran and Syria. The Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army unveiled footage from the interrogation of both terrorists captured during fighting.
