PanARMENIAN.Net – Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan led a procession honoring the memory of soldiers fallen in the 44-day war in Nagorno-Karabakh to Yerablur Military Pantheon in Yerevan on Saturday, December 19. When Pashinyan reached the pantheon, citizens demanding his resignation began throwing things at him while his security tried to shoed him with umbrellas, Factor TV reports.
A large number of police officers have arrived in Yerablur. Pashinyan ultimately made his way through the entrance of the Pantheon and left site a little more than half an hour later.
The situation is tense, a brief scuffle happened.
Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
Since the announcement of the trilateral statement, thousands of Armenians have been taking to the streets almost every day to demand the PM’s resignation. Both Pashinyan and the members of his political team have said he is not going to step down.
