Armenian soldier killed in Azerbaijan's firing

PanARMENIAN.Net – Armenian serviceman Gegham Sahakyan received a fatal gunshot wound in Azerbaijan’s fire from across the border on Wednesday, September 1, the Defense Ministry reports.

In their latest provocation, the Azeris used firearms and sniper rifles to target the Armenian positions near Yeraskh, Ararat province.

“The Ministry of Defense strongly condemns the actions of the Azerbaijani side and warns that they will not go unanswered. The entire responsibility for the escalation of the situation rests with the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan,” the Defense Ministry said.

Azerbaijani forces violated ’s border in several sections in the provinces of Syunik and Gegharkunik on May 12 and 13 and are still refusing to withdraw their troops from the area. Since then, almost a dozen Armenian servicemen have been killed in Azerbaijan’s shooting, a dozen others have been wounded, while six troops were captured on May 27, although four of them have already returned home.
