PanARMENIAN.Net – Armenian citizens captured by Azerbaijan before the recent war in Nagorno-Karabakh were among the 44 prisoners of war and detained persons who returned to Armenia on Monday, December 14, human rights lawyer Artak Zeynalyan said in a Facebook post.
Zeynalyan said he and his colleague Siranush Sahakyan were defending the right of more than half of the POWs who landed in Yerevan on Monday evening.
“We reaffirm our continued commitment to the return of other Armenian captives held in Azerbaijan,” Zeynalyan wrote.
After the end of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh, both sides said they approve the principle of “all in exchange for all”. The POW swap was also mentioned in the trilateral statement signed by Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia.
