PanARMENIAN.Net – Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday, December 21 cut short his visit to the southern province of Syunik although he was supposed to make a stop in the towns of Goris, Kapan, Meghri and Kajaran.
On his way back to Yerevan, Pashinyan said the road to Goris was blocked that’s why he decided to return to the capital.
“We will not use force, especially on a day of mourning. I owe a visit to each of the towns of Goris, Kapan, Kajaran and Meghri,” he wrote on Facebook.
The situation in the province of Syunik was tense since early morning, with the residents gathering near the gates of the region to prevent the arrival of the Prime Minister. Besides, the mayor of Goris, Arush Arushanyan, has been taken under custody though neither the police nor the Investigation Committee have offered a reason behind his detention.
