The construction of the cable car in Yerevan: the project has been sent to the government

YEREVAN, August 6 – Sputnik. The authorities of the Armenian capital have chosen one of several proposed redevelopment projects (and, in fact, new construction) of the cable car, which is not valid since 2004. In the city administration noted that there were several suggestions regarding the implementation of the project. Full package of documents associated with this project were sent to the Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia and discussed with the relevant organisations in 2020.

In October 2019 chief architect Arthur meschyan (about the imminent resignation of which has already been announced by the mayor Hayk Marutyan) promised that the ropeway construction will begin in 2020. He then assured that the source of funding for the project — not the budget of the municipality, and private investors who will be allowed to open a trading center and a hotel near the metro station (it is also planned to be built in 2020 – ed.) and the cable car.

Then Meschyan said that the cable car would run from the second array to Nork Park Abovyan. It was assumed that “looks” will perform the function of urban transportation, not entertainment. Cars cableways will accommodate up to 32 passengers.

Activities of the Yerevan cable car was launched in 1967. She tied the center of the capital (from the street Heratsi) with a sleeping area of Nork.
