YEREVAN, Aug 3 – Sputnik. The Armenian Parliament says the Yazidi genocide in Sinjar 6 years ago. This is stated in the statement of the speaker of Parliament of Ararat Mirzoyan.

“Together with the Yezidi community in Armenia we bow our heads before the memory of their brothers and sisters who died 6 years ago in Sinjar. As a nation that has survived genocide, we cannot remain indifferent to the same crime committed against other people,” said Mirzoyan.

We will remind, in August 2014, during the advance of ISIL in Northern Iraq, the Islamists seized the Yazidi region of Sinjar after the retreat of the army of Iraqi Kurdistan the Peshmerga. For several days they killed five thousand people. In November 2015, when the city was liberated, it was found destroyed. All Christian churches and Yazidi temples have been completely destroyed. In and around the town have been found traces of mass executions. During this time, thousands of Yazidi women and girls were given into slavery.
