Nikol Pashinyan reappointed as Armenia PM

PanARMENIAN.NetNikol Pashinyan was reappointed as ’s Prime Minister on Monday, August 2, according to a decree signed by President Armen Sarkissian.

Civil Contract party, which won majority in the June 20 snap elections, invited Sarkissian to appoint Pashinyan to the post of the Prime Minister. Under the Armenian constitution, the president appoints a candidate nominated by the parliamentary majority as PM, immediately upon the beginning of the term of office of the new parliament.

Pashinyan came under fire after signing a statement with the Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents to end the war in Nagorno- almost 45 days after the start of the military hostilities in late 2020. Under the deal, the Armenian side was forced to return all the seven regions surrounding Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
