PanARMENIAN.Net – First Armenian President Levon Ter-Petrosyan on Wednesday, March 10 hailed former chief of the Army General Staff Onik Gasparyan’s decision to challenge his dismissal at an administrative court.

In an article published on Ilur.am, Ter-Petrosyan also said he appreciates the army’s resilience against the opposition’s pressure to get involved in politics.

“I would as well like to stress that the sole reason for this explosive situation is the sick attachment to one’s own chair of a person who has completely failed in his mission to head the country and led our people to a humiliating defeat, which is fraught with new, much more painful dangers for us,” the Former President wrote.

Ter-Petrosyan stressed that the change of power must be implemented exclusively in a constitutional way, an immediate compromise between the government and the opposition being the only precondition.

“I do not think such a possibility is exhausted yet, because despite its harsh rhetoric, the opposition has not crossed the red lines for now,” he said.

will never have a chance to become a normal, dignified state again if it deviates from the constitutional path.”

The article comes on the heels of disagreements between the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the country’s top military brass, involving the latter demanding Pashinyan’s resignation and Pashinyan sacking the Chief of the Army General Staff.
