PanARMENIAN.Net – Head of Bright Armenia party, lawmaker Edmon Marukyan cast his ballot at a polling station in on Sunday, June 20, expressing conviction that no party or bloc will be able to single-handedly secure majority in the parliament.

Marukyan, who has repeatedly raised the importance of forming a government of national accord, said he has voted for solidarity and maintained that all the political forces should sit at a table and form such a government.

“I very much hope that there will be no alternative to solidarity and restoration of peace. Our challenges are bigger than we can imagine,” Marukyan told reporters, according to Aysor.am.

The lawmaker also believes elections will pass without major incidents.

Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on March 18 that Armenia will hold snap parliamentary elections on June 20. The PM came under fire after signing a statement with the Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents to end the war in Nagorno- almost 45 days after the start of the military hostilities. Under the deal, the Armenian side was forced to return all the seven regions surrounding Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
