Azerbaijan trying to create inapt realities in region, Armenia tells Iran

PanARMENIAN.Net – Azerbaijan is trying to create new geopolitical realities which do not proceed from the interests of countries concerned in regional stability, acting Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian told his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zariv in Yerevan on Wednesday, May 26.

On the morning of May 12, the armed forces of Azerbaijan violated the border of Armenia in the southern province of Syunik, advancing 3.5 kilometers and surrounding Sev Lake, which is situated on the border between the two countries but is predominantly a part of Armenia. On May 13, the Azerbaijani military committed more border violations against Armenia, advancing near Vardenis (Gegharkunik province) and Sisian (Syunik province).

Aivazian said the encroachment on Armenia’s territorial integrity is a direct consequence of the war unleashed on September 27, 2020 by Azerbaijan against the people of (Nagorno-), their right to self-determination and life, as well as the inadequate international and regional response to Azerbaijan’s actions towards undermining the regional peace.

“Encouraged by the sense of impunity, Azerbaijan is trying to create new geopolitical realities which do not proceed from the interests of countries concerned in regional stability. In these conditions, the dialogue with our regional partners is more than important,” Aiviazian noted
