PanARMENIAN.Net – Lawmaker from the ruling My Step faction Lilit Makunts said on Thursday, May 27 morning that expects the Collective Security Treaty Organization to respond to the situation promptly. Her comments came hours after the Defense Ministry confirmed that six Armenian troops were captured by the Azerbaijani military in the province of Gegharkunik.

“It is the delay that leads to such developments,” Makunts said, adding that the incident happened because Armenia’s international partners have not given a proper assessment and called things by their name.

Makunts said the Armenian troops were “abducted”, as the Defense Ministry said earlier that the soldiers were on Armenian soil.

“I call on our partners to give a clear assessment of Azerbaijan’s inadmissible actions,” she added.

On the morning of May 12, the armed forces of Azerbaijan violated the border of Armenia in the southern province of Syunik, advancing 3.5 kilometers and surrounding Sev Lake, which is situated on the border between the two countries but is predominantly a part of Armenia. On May 13, the Azerbaijani military committed more border violations against Armenia, advancing near Vardenis (Gegharkunik province) and Sisian (Syunik province). One Armenian serviceman was killed in Azerbaijan’s shooting on May 25.
