Armenia: Civil Contract heading to polls "on its own"

PanARMENIAN.NetThe Civil Contact party will participate in upcoming snap parliamentary elections in on its own, lawmaker from the ruling My Step bloc Lilit Makunts said on Thursday, May 6.

Makunts said the party will unveil their electoral lists after May 6. She said new people will be involved but failed the reveal whether or not businessmen will also be among them.

Acting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on March 18 that Armenia will hold snap parliamentary elections on June 20. The PM came under fire after signing a statement with the Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents to end the war in Nagorno- almost 45 days after the start of the military hostilities. Under the deal, the Armenian side was forced to return all the seven regions surrounding Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
