The meeting in the case of Serzh Sargsyan suffered: the former President and his lawyer did not come

YEREVAN, August 6 – Sputnik. The court of General jurisdiction of postponed the hearing in the matter of ex-President of Serzh Sargsyan, and others. The former President is accused of organizing the embezzlement of funds in especially large sizes.

Serzh Sargsyan at the meeting were not present from-for “technical” reasons. His lawyer Amram Makinen also came to the meeting in writing, stating that after the degradation passed the test for the coronavirus, but has not yet received his results.

He also noted that in a courtroom it is impossible to provide rules of anti-epidemic security. With this in mind Makinan asked to postpone the court session.

The prosecution said in response that Makinen participates in meetings, in other cases, it is not acceptable to submit reason for the postponement. The lack of Sargsyan and Makinana for this reason, according to the Prosecutor, must be regarded as a contempt of court.

Judge Vahe Misakyan recognized the lack Sargsyan disrespectful, but did not authorize a forced drive to the next meeting.

With regard to the conditions of the meeting, according to him, they are satisfactory acceptable to constantly refer to the court asking for postponement due to the epidemiological situation.

This meeting was postponed to 3 September, 15:00.

The case, the defendant became the third President of Armenia, was initiated in the end of last year. According to investigators, Sargsyan in 2013, he had the patronage of the company “Flash”.

She won the gostender for the supply of diesel fuel, although offered a higher price than its competitor (with a difference of about a million dollars). Thus, the state suffered damage amounting to about 1 million dollars.

The measure of restraint against Sargsyan were elected on bail. Defendants in the case are former Minister of agriculture of Armenia, Sergo Karapetyan, the owner of the company “Flash” Barsegh Beglaryan and two more people – Samvel Galstyan and Gevorg Harutyunyan.
