Iran proposes building high technology center in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.NetIran has proposed building a high technology center in for B2B meetings and sectoral discussions. During a meeting with acting Armenian Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan, Deputy for Policy Making and Strategic Evaluation at the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology of Iran Mehdi Elyasi said the Islamic Republic has extensive experience in the establishment of such centers.

Also included in Elyasi’s delegation were representatives of several major Iranian companies, the Armenian Ministry of Economy said in a press release on Wednesday, June 30, who have arrived in to participate in the Armenian-Iranian business forum.

The Iranian side said their companies are interested in cooperating with the Armenian side in various areas of the economy, including industry, construction, agriculture, food, textiles, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment production. Elyasi then unveiled some of the projects they had prepared to propose to the Armenian side.

Besides the proposed high technology center, Elyasi said Iran is ready to equip Armenian medical institutions with Iranian equipment, as well as suggested considering the possibilities of creating a joint “smart city”. The sides also weighed in on cooperation within the Meghri and Aras free economic zones, as well as partnership within the Eurasian Economic Union.

Within the Armenian-Iranian economic cooperation, a business forum is expected to be held in Iran in the fall, during which a wide range of issues will be discussed.
