System of a Down's "Chop Suey!" hits 1 billion Youtube views

PanARMENIAN.Net – System of a Down’s “Chop Suey!” has surpassed 1 billion plays on Youtube, 11 years after the band uploaded the music video on the video-sharing platform.

The single was released as part of System’s 2001 record “Toxicity”, which to date has sold over 2.7 million copies in the United States alone.

Speaking about the song in an interview, Daron Malakian, the guitarist, songwriter and second vocalist of the band, explained, “The song is about how we are regarded differently depending on how we pass. Everyone deserves to die. Like, if I were now to die from drug abuse, they might say I deserved it because I abused dangerous drugs. Hence the line, ‘I cry when angels deserve to die’.”
