Donation event for Covid-19 relief support for museums to be held in Yerevan

On Friday August 28, the COVID-19 Relief Support for Museums and Reserve-Museums will take place jointly developed by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, ICOM , ROCEMP Center and My Armenia Program to alleviate and overcome the challenges caused by COVID-19.

As the organizers report, the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly affected Armenia’s cultural heritage and tourism sectors, and since March 16, 2020, the country’s museums have been closed. For five months, museums have ceased in-person operations and have engaged the public only through digital platforms. While some museums have been able to meet this digital-only challenge, not all have been able to do so, often due to a lack of equipment, or a lack of familiarity with these digital platforms.

Within this Relief Support, 36 regional museums based on the regions where My Armenia Program is working (Lori, Tavush, Shirak, Vayots Dzor, and Syunik) are recipients for COVID-19 relief supplies and equipment.

The donation event is a closed event, intended only for the directors of the beneficiary institutions. The event will take place in the garden of the KhachaturAbovyan House-Museum on August 28 from 11:00-12:00.
